Isobarsurf Team
Tim Rosevear - Isobar Surf Founder & Head Coach
Tim has been surfing for almost 25 years. His wave seeking journeys have taken him to West Java, Bali, Fiji,USA,Portugal,Spain,France,UK, the Canary Islands & New Caledonia. He's even had a go on a river wave in Germany .Nevertheless the surf breaks of his home country New Zealand from Cape Reinga to the Bluff are still his favourites. Tim established IsobarSurf in 1999 initially running tours from Paihia on a daily basis..He found that as the conditions in Taupo Bay were perfect for the school he would more often than not hold the lessons there. It was a natural progression to purchase a house there and rather be at the beach every night after work than to drive way from it.
He has the level 1 NZ Surfing & First Aid certificates and is experienced in teaching beginners as well as pros.
"I'm super stoked to see people realise their dream of surfing. Especially at an introductory level as those first waves are the ones that really make the life lasting impressions."
Currently Riding: 6' 10 Hurley , 7' Hurley & a7' Town and Country.
Joe - Isobar Surf Coach
Joe started surfing with his older brothers when he was a kid. He then went to the Surfing Academy in Raglan, New Zealand. He has surfed in competitions and was sponsored by Cult. He now has the Level 1 NZ Surfing & First Aid certificates and has been teaching at Isobarsurf for the last 2 summers. In between lessons he is always surfing and he is often the first one in and the last one out at night
"I love it when everyone comes home exhausted at night, but with big smiles on their faces."
Currently riding a 6'0", 6'2" and a 5'8" Tribal
Milena
Milena learned to surf at Isobar and her favourite surf spot is still Taupo Bay. She has also surfed different surf breaks in New Zealand and enjoyed some waves in France and Spain. Being Tim's better half she is hanging out at the lodge or out there encouraging everyone in the surf.
"A perfect, uncrowded beach break surrounded by stunning scenery with dolphins coming in occasionally must be paradise!"
Currently riding a 7' Town and country and some of the Isobar Longboards
Wes & Lola
Wes and Lola are Isobar's dogs. They are friendly with everyone and are enjoying all the attention they are getting. They love going for a run at the beach but unfortunately they don't like surfing...
We have never had any problems with our dogs but if you are scared of dogs or are allergic to dogs, please talk to us and we will find a solution.
Joe Palmer
Joe is thirteen years old and started surfing at the start of 2008. He is now surfing in National competions and spends any spare time up here at the Isoabar surf Lodge training, working and free surfing as much as possible.
currently riding a 5'5" Tribal
